Pierre Larochelle visits the BYU CMR

As part of the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Seminar Lectures, Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology, Dr. Pierre Larochelle presented his research in the synthesis and analysis of spherical and spatial robotic mechanical systems for motion generated tasks. Visiting BYU campus September 30th, he discussed his recent results and challenges in using computers to engineer robotic mechanical systems. His discussion involved two specific challenges that, if overcome, could transform the design of robotic mechanical systems.

Pierre Larochelle is the Assistant Dean for Academics and Accreditation and a Mechanical Engineering Professor at the Florida Institute of Technology. As the founding director of the Robotics and Spatial Systems Laboratory (RASSL), he has generated over 100 publications and has served as a consultant on robotics, automation, machine design and computer-aided design.
